LibreWXR is built and maintained on personal time, and the public API at api.librewxr.net is hosted out of pocket. If LibreWXR is useful to you and you'd like to help keep development and hosting going, you can chip in directly — one-off or recurring, whichever fits.

Commercial Licensing

LibreWXR is licensed under the AGPL-3.0, and it always will be — free to self-host, modify, and redistribute. The AGPL's network-use clause does mean that if you run a modified version as a service, you have to make your changes available to that service's users.

That obligation is a deal-breaker for some commercial uses — building LibreWXR into a closed-source product, say, or a hosted offering whose modifications can't be released. For those cases a separate commercial license is available that lifts the AGPL requirements. It changes nothing about the open project: LibreWXR stays AGPL and free for everyone else.

Other Ways to Help

If you'd like to help but aren't in a position to chip in financially, these go a long way too:

• Self-host LibreWXR and use it — the more deployments in the wild, the more robust the project becomes.
• Tell other developers, weather enthusiasts, or operators about it. Word of mouth is the cheapest and most effective kind of support.
